(NMHA):
Resource Center
A mental health advocay organization concerned
with all aspects of mental health and mental illness.
The National Mental Health Association Resource
Center serves the general public by providing
literature about mental illness and refferals
to mental health services. In addition, the Resource
Center provides technical assistance to mental
health consumer and consumer supporter organizations,
advocay organizations, and NMHA's nationwide network.

3. DRADA Depression and
Related Affective Disoders Association:
A community organization
which serves individuals affected by depression
and bipolar illness, family members, health care
professionals, and the general public. DRADA is
predominantly based in MAryland with services
provided in some other states. Its activities
include:
— Support Groups for consumers and/or family
members. (See county listings);
— Peer Support Program provides one-to-one
support by a peer to consumers or family members
who may be unable to attend a support group or
want additional support;
— Hospital Networking Program involves DRADA
volunteers going into hospitals to speak to consumers
about their own situations and how DRADA and other
organizations can help them cope;z
— Leadership Training which is a one-day
program for individuals interested in leading
or developing support groups;
— Conducting educational Symposiums for
proffesionals and the public;
— Young People's
Programs which involves conducting outreach at
high schools regarding depression;
— Newsletter; and
— Selling books and videos reviewed by a
team of Hopkins doctors, nurses, and DRADA board
members and determined to have an outstanding
quality of information regarding depression and
bipolar illness.
