How Does GPS Tracking Device Work?

  • Mobile

  • Surveillance device

The GPS satellites above transmit location, speed and direction information to a GPS tracking device hidden in the vehicle. The tracking device, which usually consists of a GPS receiver and a cellular modem, transmits GPS data (consisting of longitude and latitude data) over the cellular network. 

The mobile network then relays the information signal to the user's browser, mobile phone, or email. Users have the ability to set geographic limits and speed signals to control and monitor vehicle movement. 

A geofence is an "electronic fence" that, when turned on, sends a signal to the user if the vehicle crosses a geographical boundary designed to restrict movement. In short, a geofence is a dynamically generated virtual perimeter.
